Looking for a New Job

I hate looking for jobs. So not fun (I even said that in a phone interview this week). I have found that I am pretty picky about the areas I want to work as a nurse.

Honestly, going through school I completed my most of my clinicals because I had to. But the only clinicals that I actually enjoyed were Peds and Labor and Delivery. The first time I got to help in a delivery brought tears to my eyes and I LOVED it. Those were the clinicals I didn't mind getting up in the morning. Other students in our class loved surgery or ICU. So not my thing.

So when we moved to Virginia, I first just started applying to L & D or peds jobs...didn't hear anything. I thought I guess I will have to expand my search and applied for some surgery positions...no luck. I finally broke down and applied for Med/Surg nights!

Then I decided I just wasn't going to work as a nurse anymore...this isn't fun. I went through this same thing after the job I was supposed to start right after we got married didn't work out because the hospital flooded. Then I found my job at Columbus Peds and really loved it. I loved my coworkers, the normal schedule, and seeing kids.

But today I set up an interview next week for Labor and Delivery. I am so excited! I told myself that after next week I would have a job and I really pray that God will provide! He has gotten us this far, He won't leave us yet!

Bedroom

My second day of work went well and I think it really seems like a fun place to work! My body just has not adjusted to waking up at 5:30! I was so tired when I came home today that straight after church I came home and went to bed. Now it's close to 11 and I will probably be awake for awhile! Our Vacation Bible School is next week so we went around to neighborhoods with packets with information and candy but walking around I think added to my tiredness.

As promised, the bedroom! One of the first projects we worked on after we got married was painting the bedroom. The room probably had not been painted in years. This was my first painting experience and lets just say that I was covered with paint! We painted a creamy color that's really darker than what's in the picture. We first applied primer and I surprised by how un-fun it was. But then when we put our color up, it was much more fun but the second coat and touch ups were a little more tedious. We even moved our mattress and had a slumber party in the living room that night! I have a couple of pictures on my computer and will probably post more later. On the wall you cannot see, I spray painted one of the mirrors we received black to match the decor. Joe even said we could paint his ancient dresser to fit the room! Since this picture, I have added a few decorative touches. We still need some panels for the windows (to hide our lovely window air conditioning) and I think some red flowers and we should be done.

A New Job

I started my job today at Columbus Peds. The people there were very friendly and really went out of the way to make me feel comfortable. Part of my job will be answering the triage phone from parents of the kids with concerns. I listened to many of those calls. Also today newborns came in to see the doctors and they were SO cute! The first thing I thought when I held one was that I wanted one now! And then I remembered, I am not ready for kids. Silly me! What I think will be the best about this job is having a normal life. It is almost guarenteed that a starting nurse will work the night shift and holidays. But I can still be a good wife and see my husband. I even made him dinner today when I came home. I tried out a new recipe: marinated pork chops. I marinated them overnight and I was pretty impressed :) You can find the recipe here.
Our whole wedding DVD came in the mail yesterday. It's weird watching a video that's always looking at you. Especially the time when we prayed and there was a close up of my face and I peeked! It is so nice to watch it over and over. Don't worry I won't make you watch it! But do still look at our wedding short in an earlier post!

Because Joe did not make the bed this morning and it seems to silly to make the bed when in a couple of hours I will be in bed so instead I will show a pictures of our piano. We were very blessed that a piano was given to us as a wedding gift. It needs to be tuned but I am so excited to be able to play again. I sat down to play some music and then I remembered that all the music I played growing up was my mom's. I need to get my own piano music!

A New Life

I decided that it was time to leave my old blog. It was nice during college but starting a new life I wanted a new blog. Joe and I are enjoying marriage and figuring how to blend two lives and perspectives together. We have been doing some decorating and painting of the house and getting me all moved in. I start my new job on Tuesday at Columbus Pediatrics as a RN. Because of the flooding at Columbus Regional, I was unable to start my job. But through a connection at church I now have a new job!

So this will be a place for stories and pictures and adventures for all.
