Memory Monday

When I first started this blog, I started doing Memory Monday where my goal was to memorize a verse per week. As you can see by the lack of Memory Mondays in the last few months, I haven't done so well.

But, it's never too late to memorize God's word! God wants us to hide His word in our heart, and memorization is a great tool! Here is what John Piper says about memorizing scripture

So here is Memory Monday!

1 Corinthians 1:12

"For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you."

Memory Monday

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. Memory Monday

The verse I am memorizing this week is Psalm 5:3. This speaks to me as I struggle with getting up in the morning. I am known to be a late person. This has been an issue in our marriage as Joe goes to bed and I end up going to bed much later than him and waking him up and probably being very annoying.

Psalm 5:3

"In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch."

Memory Monday

I was convicted from reading another blog about my scripture memorization. I know that I can remember all kinds of songs from my Ipod but how much to covet God's word? My aim is to memorize one verse per week, which I am sure that I could do more but I really want to accomplish this.

So as a way to keep me accountable I will start Memory Monday and post one verse here and maybe others can memorize it with me!

This week's verse is Colossians 4:5-6

"Walk in wisdom towards outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt so that you may know how you ought to answer each person."
